Step 1 – Find Your Ryobi Chainsaw Model

If your model appears more than once with different gauges or drive link counts, continue to Step 2 to confirm the correct chain.

Step 2 – Check These Two Things on Your Chainsaw

Some Ryobi chainsaws may have replacement guide bars fitted during their lifetime. Checking these two measurements ensures you order the correct replacement chain every time.

1. Drive Links (DL)

The drive link count is the most accurate way to identify your replacement chain.

To calculate it:

• Count the cutters on your existing chain.
• Multiply that number by 2.
• The result is your Drive Link (DL) count.

Example:

22 cutters × 2 = 44 Drive Links (44DL)

If you notice one slightly larger gap between the cutters, your chain has an odd number of drive links, such as 45DL.

2. Gauge

Gauge refers to the thickness of the drive links that fit inside the guide bar groove.

Look for one of these markings stamped on your guide bar near the mounting point:

• .043" (1.1mm)
• .050" (1.3mm)
• .058" (1.5mm)

Your replacement chain must have the exact same gauge as your guide bar.

If the gauge is incorrect, the chain won't fit properly.

Do You Need to Check the Pitch?

Usually, no.

Once you've confirmed the correct Drive Link count and Gauge, the chain pitch will automatically match your Ryobi guide bar.
